The Idyllic Northamptonshire Pub

Nestling on the green in the hidden village of Ashton is found a Northamptonshire pub that has a traditional thatched exterior with a twist of the contemporary inside. The heart of the Chequered Skipper pub is its bar with stone and oak flooring, oak beams, butterfly display cases and an unusual flagstone bar top.

Having been listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for over ten years the staff know about the real ale on offer which is selected from local favourite breweries that include: Rockingham, Church End, Crouch Vale, Oakham and Newby Wyke. The ales are regularly changed with always three or four on to choose from. Light or golden ales predominate but a stronger dark beer is usually available too.

The Chequered Skipper holds two beer festivals every year, usually based around the summer bank holidays where there is not only a large range of ales to choose from but also a couple of real ciders.

Wines are solely supplied to the Chequered Skipper by Amps Fine Wines of Oundle who provide a select wine list to compliment the changing menus.

The bar is area is Wi-Fi enabled and this is made available to patrons. Well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area. Sandwiches and bar snacks may be eaten in the bar area.

For a relaxed drink at the bar or on the village green, the Chequered Skipper offers plenty of quality and choice.
