Surrounded by wonderful farmland, it will be no surprise to learn that The Chequered Skipper choose high quality local suppliers to provide the freshest ingredients for the menu. Most of our meat is supplied by local award winning butchers, Seven Wells of Oundle and the vegetables come from the Oundle Market and Normans Grocers also based in the neighbouring town. Fresh, sustainable fish is delivered daily from Colchester. On top of this Ian even uses produce from some of the village gardens, local Ashton Estate game and seasonal fruits such as handpicked Ashton blackberries.
The restaurant is stylish, modern and intimate with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Ian has created a menu that that draws on fresh country themes and introduces a fresh modern take on many traditional dishes. As the seasons change so do the pub restaurant menus.
We offer a separate Sunday Lunch Menu between 12pm and 3pm every Sunday. This contains a choice of tradition Sunday Roasts as well as selected items from our main menu.
