Read on for news on Monday dining a few other changes based on your feedback.
As we approach our 1st anniversary at the Chequered Skipper, Phil and Kay would like to thank our customers, new and old, for your continued support. We’ve been grateful for the expertise of our fantastic kitchen and front of house teams and the constructive feedback received along the way from our loyal customers as we continue to tweak our offering. So it’s our pleasure to announce some changes to our Opening Hours which will see a return of Monday dining, some changes to ever popular Sunday dining options as well as our range of dining options for Vegans, Vegetarians and how we cater for customers with special dietary requirements. It’s our philosophy that the customer always comes first, so please don’t hesitate to let us know if there is more we can do for you.
We took the decision last April to close on Mondays to allow time to do a deep clean of our kitchen and front-of-house areas but with the recruitment of our fabulous cleaner, Beverley, and changes to the kitchen cleaning rota which ensure our facilities are consistently maintained at a high standard, we no longer rely so heavily on Monday for these tasks. We hope that reopening on Monday will provide our customers with more flexibility during the week as we understand a number of local eateries are also closed on Mondays.
We will be offering both our Pub Classic and A La Carte Menus on Mondays with our kitchen open from 12-2.30pm and 6.30 – 9pm.
We are also tweaking our Sunday Kitchen times in order to extend our opening times overall and increase choice throughout the day/evening. Our Sunday A La Carte which extensively focuses on the traditional Sunday roast with a limited selection from our Bar Classics will be served 12-3.30pm. The kitchen will reopen at 6.30pm through to 9pm with our full Bar Classic and full range from our seasonal A La Carte. And don’t worry if you forget about the kitchen closure from 3.30-6.30pm – we are sure we can cater for a snack and there may even be some left-overs from Sunday lunch on offer. However, we are confident based on our peak times for Sunday dining that our new lunch opening times will suit the majority and we do hope that our late diners will choose to come back and support the extended opening times.
Vegetarian or Vegan?
We’re continuing to build on our range of vegetarian and vegan options but understand that it can be challenging to spot the options on offer when they are interspersed through our Classic and A La Carte Menus, so we are working on a stand-alone “vMenu” which will help bring this all together. We look forward to posting this on our Menus page within the next week or so!
Are you a Vegan with some menu ideas? We are currently researching recipes for Vegans based on a number of sources but why not ask the expert – that’s you! If you have a favourite recipe that you would like to see added to our menu, how about sharing? In return, we can offer a £10 dining voucher for any creative recipes that we add to our menu.
Perhaps you’d like to host your own bespoke vegan dining night with family or friends? We are sure to be able to cater to your needs for larger groups and parties.
Gluten Free/Special Dietary Requirements
Our Chefs have a lot of experience of catering for special dietary requirements. The most common request from customers is for Gluten Free options. We are confident that we can provide a GF version for all dishes on our standard menus.
For customers with other special dietary requirements, we have ensured that our Front of House staff are trained to discuss your requirements with our Chefs, provide you with accurate information on ingredients and offer advise on whether we can remove/substitute certain ingredients. It is always advisable to call ahead with special requirements and let us know any dishes you are considering so we can make sure your requirements are met.
